The speakers will discuss the pivotal cases that impact how community associations are managed. The cases will run the gamut, including cats, personal injuries, violent attacks, termites and delinquencies. Concepts like the business judgment decisions and the meaning of fiduciary duty will be explored, allowing the audience to predict the outcome of the case based upon the facts presented. Community managers will walk away with the tools to relate case law to their day-to-day jobs.
Special Guest Speakers:
Denise Iger, Esq. is a partner of the law firm Iger, Wankel, Bonkowski LLP. Ms. Iger has served as general legal counsel to hundreds of homeowners associations throughout Southern California for more than 20 years. She served as a Director for the Orange County Chapter for six years and Vice President for four years. For many years, Denise chaired the Chapter’s Publication Committee and has served on the committee for over fifteen years, as well as other committees of the Chapter. She is the recipient of a number of this Chapter’s most prestigious awards, including the May Russell Lifetime Achievement Award and Speaker of the Year.
James R. McCormick, Jr., Esq. CCAL, is a partner in Delphi Law Group, LLP. Since starting in the industry in 1996, James has served on various industry committees, has presented at countless events and has published many industry-related articles. As a result of his work in this industry, James is one of approximately 150 attorneys nationwide to be granted a fellowship in the CAI College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL). James is passionate about teaching and has created training programs for managers and Board members in San Diego, Coachella Valley, Orange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire.
Steven J. Tinnelly, Esq. is the managing partner of Tinnelly Law Group, a firm that has been dedicated to representing community associations for 30 years. Mr. Tinnelly is very involved in the community association industry, has presented at dozens of events, and has authored numerous articles, publications and online legal resources. He has served on various CAI committees and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Chapter.
