Losing or having to terminate a business relationship can be very personal and emotional to all parties. Attend this program to learn more effective ways to handle the “Break-Up.” You will walk away with a better understanding on building relationships with your clients, community managers and business partners and how best to save a working relationship or walk-away from one if there aren’t any other options

Guest Speakers:  
James R. McCormick, Jr., CCAL, is a managing partner at Peters & Freedman, LLP.  He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he received his undergraduate and law school at the University of San Diego. Mr. McCormick has presented at numerous CAI events and has published many industry-related articles.   He chaired the San Diego CAI Legislative Support Committee of the California Legislative Action Committee for several years and currently serves on the CAI Coachella Valley LSC committee and the CAI Orange County PR Committee.  

Brian Murphy, CMCA, AMS, PCAM is the Founder and CEO of ProActive Professional Management and has been successful in the industry since 1992. Brian was a partner for a mid-sized community association management company and has a diverse business background.  At one point in his career, Brian was a successful portfolio manager and managed both IT and accounting divisions for other organizations.  Mr. Murphy's active involvement in the industry spans many years and he served on the Board of Directors for CAI-OC and currently serves on the Legislative Support and is the chair of the Golf Committee.  

Shannon Smith is the President of Blue Balance Pool and Janitorial Service, Inc.  Mrs. Smith has been involved in the HOA industry for over 20 years working on both the management and business partner side, as well as serving on her own Associations Board of Directors.  Her involvement with CAI Committees include Orange County Programs Committee, Greater Inland Empire Monte Carlo Committee and San Diego Education Committee. In 2015, Shannon was honored to receive the CAI Orange County President’s Award.
